HVAC Before & After in Long Beach, CA

Photos don’t lie. You can read a hundred promises on a website, but seeing a rusted furnace swapped for a clean Goodman unit, or a condenser pulled from a Naples backyard and reset level on a pad, tells you more in five seconds. Below are real jobs from real service calls here in Long Beach. Most took a few hours. All of them ended with a written price agreed on before the first tool came off the truck, and every repair walked out the door with a full-year written guarantee. Names and addresses are kept private; the work is exactly what we did.

Rooftop Package Unit Swap in Bixby Knolls

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Rusted 18-year-old package unit on a Bixby Knolls roof, replaced with a new Carrier rooftop unit. Old unit on the left, new install on the right.

The homeowner called because the upstairs never dropped below 80 degrees on summer afternoons. We found a package unit so corroded the condenser fins looked like they’d been through a salt spray test, which, given the marine air in Bixby Knolls, they basically had. We quoted a full replacement in writing, set the install date, and had the old unit off the roof and the new Carrier running by 2 p.m. The result: a 22-degree drop in the upstairs bedrooms the same afternoon. We also re-pitched the curb and replaced the rain cap, because a new unit on a bad curb is a future service call.

Heat Pump Migration from a Flood Zone Closet in Alamitos Beach

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Heat pump relocated from a wet closet in Alamitos Beach to an exterior wall mount. Original location on the left, new location on the right.

This one was a heat pump install with a Long Beach-specific twist: the original air handler lived in a ground-floor closet that had been flooded twice. The homeowner didn’t want another unit sitting in a space that smells like the tide after a heavy rain. We moved the air handler to a high exterior wall on the shaded side of the building, ran new lineset along the existing chase, and kept the whole job within the original quote. Now the unit’s out of the flood path and the closet is usable storage. That’s a double win.

Condenser Reset and Lineset Reroute in Los Altos

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Sunken condenser in a Los Altos side yard, before and after a level composite pad and a rerouted lineset.

The condenser had settled so badly over a decade that it sat four inches out of level, and the lineset ran through a garden bed where the homeowner’s sprinklers hit it twice a day. Constant moisture on copper is how you get pinhole leaks. We pulled the unit, poured a new composite pad, set the condenser level, and rerouted the lineset up and along the house wall instead of through the dirt. The homeowner’s comment was “it looks like the neighbors’ units now, except ours is straight.” We’ll take it.

Furnace Heat Exchanger Failure in Cal Heights

Two professional technicians repairing a residential air conditioning unit outdoors
Cracked heat exchanger in a Cal Heights furnace, replaced with a new Trane unit. Old exchanger on the left, new furnace on the right.

A 16-year-old furnace in a Cal Heights bungalow started tripping the rollout switch. We found a cracked heat exchanger, which is a carbon monoxide concern, so we shut the unit down on the spot and walked the homeowner through the photos we took with a borescope. The replacement quote was in writing before we left that day. The new Trane unit went in two days later, including a new flue pipe and a proper condensate drain instead of the old vinyl tube shoved through the crawl space wall. More importantly, the house tested clean for CO after startup.

Closet Air Handler Replacement in Naples

Moldy air handler in a Naples closet, before and after a sealed Rheem unit with a secondary drain pan.

Naples is beautiful, but those homes sit close to the water, and that means humidity. This air handler had mold on the blower housing and a drain pan that had been patched with silicone more times than the homeowner wanted to think about. We replaced it with a new Rheem air handler, added a secondary drain pan with a float switch, and sealed the return plenum so it stopped pulling air from the crawl space. The difference in smell alone was enough to justify the job. The lower humidity reading was the cherry on top.

Duct Leak Repair Under a House in El Dorado Park

Torn flex duct under an El Dorado Park home, before and after replacement with rigid ducting and proper hanging.

The homeowner said one room never cooled and the hallway was always cold. We crawled under the house and found a flex duct run that had separated at a junction and was dumping conditioned air into the crawl space. Honestly, it looked like a raccoon had used it as a tug toy. We replaced the run with rigid duct, resealed every connection with mastic, and hung the line properly instead of letting it lay on the ground. The room hit setpoint for the first time in years, and the system’s static pressure dropped back to normal. That’s the kind of fix that never shows up on a big-box store ad.
